2007 is the year of Kumamoto Castle's 400th anniversary.
Since 1601 Kiyomasa KATO, Samurai Load of Kumamoto area, had constructed his castle and
he completed to construct it in 1607.

Around Kumamoto castle, Kumamoto city has prosperous downtowns which are very long shopping arcades.
Since 2005, every end-of-the-year, people who work in downtown plan to decorate christmas illumination there.
They call the planning "Sakura-machi Pageant of starlight 2006"(『2006 くまもと桜町 "光"のページェント』).

If you walk, run and drive along the street, you can see the following illumination.

Unfortunately we can watch beautiful christmas illumination around NTT WEST Kumamoto until Christmas, that is, 25th December 2006. But I recorded them. If you cannot visit Kumamoto city until Christmas, please visit the following pages and watch them!
